Another Hollyoaks star is set to exit this year, with Chelsee Healey bowing out of the Channel 4 soap to pursue other projects.

Healey, who has played Goldie McQueen since 2016, has already taken a step back from her soap commitments in recent years so that she could complete a guest stint in Waterloo Road – where she found fame – and was a contestant on last year's Dancing on Ice.

A source explained to The Sun: "Chelsee has decided it’s time to move on from Hollyoaks for good.

"She hasn’t had a full time contract on the show for some time now and has been doing other stuff on the side for a while – but she’s taking the leap fully now."

It comes following reports that James Sutton is also about to depart as her on-screen cousin John Paul.

Sutton, who has been part of the Chester-based serial for the last two decades, has been tipped for an "explosive" final storyline, which the publication claims will feature the returns of his dead sisters Carmel (Gemma Merna) and Tina (Leah Hackett).

"The episode is a special one-off that looks at how John Paul McQueen’s life could’ve been different had his sisters not died," the source continued.

“[They] jumped at the chance to return and reunite with her soap family. The episode will air next month and will be one not to miss for fans.”

A Hollyoaks spokesperson declined to comment when approached by RadioTimes.com.

Merna was introduced alongside the rest of the McQueen clan in 2006, and continued to appear until 2014.

Carmel was killed off in an explosion following a train crash.

Things were just as dramatic for Hackett, who ended her two year stint in 2008 with an explosion within a church.

Tina was briefly seen again in flashback scenes that aired following Carmel's demise.
