Downton Abbey v Breaking Bad

W I like the inbetween.

RO The Inbetweeners?

W No, Game of Thrones – ’cause that’s kinda British to me, as an American. Isn’t it, like old British history? I’m like, “Where’s that at? I wanna go there.”

RO [Laughs] Yeah, it’s set just round the corner!

More like this

Fast food v Michelin-starred food

RO Obviously if I have time I love a nice restaurant. But usually I’m on the road and it’s hard to eat healthy. But I’m trying to fix that – healthy eating keeps my physique tight. Can I cook? No. I’m not gonna lie. I can make scrambled eggs and a bit of salmon on the side. That’s it. I know, it’s pretty bad.

W I cook. But right now I’m not eating so healthy, so I brought a trainer in to whip me into shape. I’ve put on some pounds. I’m hiding them with baggy clothes. The other day I was looking at myself naked, thinking, “I gotta really trim up, I’m kinda blimped out...”

The Voice v X Factor

RO I didn’t watch the last series [of The X Factor]. I haven’t been in the country.

W But to Simon’s [Cowell] salute, he has done an awesome job. There are some bad things, obviously – like, are they making fun of the artists? The screening before people are on TV on The Voice means you rarely think, “Oh my gosh, what?” Everyone bad has been filtered out.

But if it was Simon and myself sitting here and he asked me that question, and we were arguing, and he was like, “Come on, how many people have you developed into careers?” I would say, “You know what? Toupée, Tupac, touché. Meaning: that comment knocked my wig back so therefore I need a toupée. Tupac, you shot me down. And touché [drums palms on table]. But our show is better.

RO We’re definitely more entertaining as individuals! And the singers are better. And to answer bluntly, it’s about music. It’s a good show, a great formula, and there’s no illusions.

W But even though we have a more entertaining show, and it’s really all about music and good singing – dang, that guy has a well-oiled machine. But we’ll get there.

RO We will!

W That’s right. Even if it takes to season 40!
