For fans of The Traitors and Race Across the World, the BBC has delivered with a brand new game show, Destination X.

Hosted by Rob Brydon, the series sees a group of contestants set out on a real-life board game as they travel across Europe.

"I suppose the most gripping thing is seeing how the players respond to the pressure that they are under and watching players' relationships develop," Brydon explained of the series.

"I don't want to give anything away but when they start out, they are very much in a team mentality, they are keen to remind me that they are a team - and then things evolve."

But what actually goes down to have these dynamics change so often? Scroll down to learn more about the rules of Destination X and how you can take part too.

How does Destination X work?

The game begins with the players on a blacked-out bus as they travel around Europe, which is completely unknown to them and the viewers at home. When the bus stops, the players have no idea where they have gone or ended up, but they're not completely left in the dark.

"The windows of the bus are opaque for most of the time but can suddenly become clear at the flick of a switch, albeit very briefly," Brydon explained.

Throughout their journey, the players will be given clues to guide them along their route, as well as partaking in mental and physical challenges. But, of course, there'll be a few red herrings thrown in there too to throw them off.

Brydon added: "The players have to learn to live with each other and to complete challenges to win clues as to where on earth they are."

At the end of each episode, the contestants are sent to the Map Room, in which they have to guess their location by placing an X on a map of Europe. The closer your guess is, you stay on for another day, but the player who guesses the furthest away from the actual location or Destination X is then eliminated.
