Where was ITV’s Gone filmed?
David Morrissey and Eve Myles star in the ITV crime thriller.

When the headmaster of a prestigious private school returns home to find that his wife has disappeared, one detective begins to question whether he knows more than he's letting on.
Michael Polly appears more concerned with his job and coaching the school rugby team than he does with the disappearance of his wife Sarah – also a teacher at the school alongside their daughter Alana – which raises the eyebrows of DS Annie Cassidy.
Having survived an abusive relationship herself – although there's a risk of her being pulled back into it – she recognises traits in Michael that leave a bad taste in her mouth, as she wonders: is Michael responsible for Sarah's disappearance?
"It's subtly done," Morrissey said in an interview with Radio Times of how Gone explores themes of coercive control. "What I like about the way it's laced into this is that we feel a lot of the time about domestic violence and coercive behaviour that it's something that we should all see, or we ask, how did you miss that? But it's much more subtle and insidious than that.
"And I think [screenwriter] George [Kay] really does explore that idea, that it happens to someone who, in the cases of both women, are capable, adult people who are in this terrible situation, and we see them trying to negotiate that.
"It's also something that sadly, many, many people will recognise in their lives, with themselves or people they know."
The school and the Polly house are the two main locations in the show, but viewers will likely recognise a number of other shots thanks to the distinctive look and feel of the city.

Gone filming locations

Gone was filmed in and around Bristol.
The school that features in the series is Downer School in Stratton-the-Fosse, a real public school in Bath.
"Some of the boys from that school are in the rugby team, and the Polly house is around the corner from there and overlooks the whole valley and the Bristol Channel," said Morrissey. 'It was a beautiful, beautiful house.
"And we did lots of driving over Clifton Bridge as well."
Some of the on-location filming spots included (via The Bottle Yard Studios):
- A café on Queen Square Avenue.
- A restaurant on Queens Road in Clifton.
- A property on Richmond Hill Avenue in Clifton, which doubled as the exterior for the police station.
- The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Bristol city centre, which doubled as the police station's press room.
- A building on Berkeley Square, which doubled as a financial office.
- The village of Saltford.

Sets for the police station and various interiors of the Polly house were built at The Bottle Yard Studios, which is the largest film and TV studio in the West of England.
"So we had the best of both worlds, really," said Eve Myles. "We had great locations and great sets. It's Bristol. It has everything to offer a film company."
