Beef season 2 has made its long-awaited debut on Netflix, bringing with it a killer soundtrack that may well trigger nostalgia for a large number of viewers.

The series follows country club managers Josh (Oscar Isaac) and Lindsay (Carey Mulligan) as they become locked in a bitter feud with two of their employees, Ashley (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin (Charles Melton).

The resulting war between the couples will go to some dark and unexpected places, including drudging up old memories of rosier times for both – with music playing a key role.

Series creator Lee Sung Jin and star Isaac settled on Hot Chip and LCD Soundsystem as particularly relevant artists for Josh, with the former band even making a cameo appearance in the new episodes.

"An amusing thing for us was how, for the millennial couple, their 20 to 15 years ago was LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip at Coachella," said composer Finneas O'Connell (via TUDUM). "That's horrifying, because that feels like it was last year to everybody."

The original soundtrack for Beef season 2 was composed by Finneas O'Connell (also known simply as Finneas).

The singer-songwriter and record producer is perhaps most closely associated with his sister, pop star Billie Eilish, with whom he's worked on several songs including Bond theme No Time to Die and Barbie's breakout hit What Was I Made For?.

He's also released two solo studio albums, titled Optimist and For Cryin' Out Loud!, as well as writing songs for other artists including Selena Gomez, Kid Cudi and Celeste.

Beef season 2's original soundtrack is available to listen to now on music streaming platforms.
