The new HBO Original Comedy Series YOUTH will see Harriet Walter, Anne Reid, and Freddie Fox star as its main cast.

As well as writing and executive producing, Sharon Horgan will also star in the upcoming series. She has previously written and acted in the 2015 Channel 4 series Catastrophe alongside Rob Delaney, and is also the comedic mastermind behind BBC's Motherland.

YOUTH follows a 50-year-old divorcee’s search for sex and love whilst juggling caring for her ailing parents and parenting her should-be grown up son.

Anne Reid is best known for playing Valerie Barlow in Coronation Street from 1961 to 1971, and later Celia Dawson in Last Tango in Halifax between 2012 and 2020, for which she was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for best actress.

Dame Harriet Walter has had a career spanning over 50 years and is no stranger to comedy acting, starring in the Apple TV sports comedy-drama series Ted Lasso. She is also known for her roles in Succession and Silo.

Whilst Freddie Fox is most recognised from House of the Dragon and Slow Horses, he has also had previous comedy roles in Apple TV's The Great and the Victorian police comedy on Channel 4 Year of the Rabbit.

YOUTH is produced by Merman, which also produced the likes of Amandaland, Bad Sisters and Vladimir, Horgan's own production company which she co-founded in 2014 alongside Clelia Mountford. Additional executive producers are Faye Dorn for Merman, Jim Kleverweis, and Dawn Shadforth, who will also direct.

For her comedy work Sharon Horgan has won numerous accolades including seven BAFTA nominations and two wins - best drama series in 2023 for Bad Sisters and best writer: comedy for Catastrophe in 2016.
