How to parry in Ninja Gaiden 4 explained
An essential skill.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is not an easy game by any means, but it can be made quite a lot easier if you know how to parry.
Parrying not only lets you completely negate an enemy attack, but lets you get your own damage in as a counter, making it incredibly useful for fighting mobs and bosses alike.
So, how do you parry in Ninja Gaiden 4? We've put together a quick guide on exactly what you need to know.
How to parry in Ninja Gaiden 4 explained
Like most games with a parry mechanic, you simply need to press a specific button to parry an enemy attack. That being said, Ninja Gaiden 4 has a unique take on it.
You need to press one of your attack buttons – X or Y on Xbox, Square or Triangle on PlayStation – in time with your enemy's attack, making you clash weapons and staggering the enemy for a couple of seconds.
This stagger time gives you the chance to get some free damage in, or to perform a Fatal Flash – more on that down below.
This basic parry is unlocked from the very start of the game, so you don't need to do anything to unlock it.
Be aware that, while the timing is rather generous in comparison with games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, it's still worth practising it a bit to get the hang of it.
How to Fatal Flash in Ninja Gaiden 4
Fatal Flash is a technique that lets you perform a quick dash attack immediately following a parry by pressing Y on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation.
To unlock Fatal Flash, you first need to purchase the basic technique from Raven Mentor Tyrant for 900 NinjaCoin.
Further Fatal Flash variants are available which are capable of dealing progressively higher damage, but which cost more NinjaCoin in return:
- Fatal Flash: 900 NinjaCoin
- Fatal Flash (Bloodraven Form): 9,000 NinjaCoin
- Perfect Fatal Flash: 27,000 NinjaCoin
- Perfect Fatal Flash (Bloodraven Form): 36,000 NinjaCoin
Getting all of the Fatal Flash variants will set you back a hefty 72,900 NinjaCoin, so you should probably start saving up now.
