The film Man of Tomorrow, directed by James Gunn, is confirmed for release on 9 July 2027 in cinemas. This marks the next chapter in DC Studios’ 'Super Family Saga', following the success of Gunn’s previous Superman film.

Starring David Corenswet as Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, the film promises a high-stakes superhero adventure. The story will see Superman and his arch-nemesis Lex Luthor forced to team up against a greater threat, with Lars Eidinger set to play the villainous Brainiac.

Returning faces from the first film include Frank Grillo, Skyler Gisondo, Wendell Pierce, Mikaela Hoover, and Isabel Merced.

At the time of writing, official trailers and promotional material have yet to be released, but first-look artwork has been shared on social media by James Gunn, featuring Superman and Lex Luthor.

What is Man of Tomorrow about?

Man of Tomorrow sees Superman and Lex Luthor form an uneasy alliance to face a larger threat: the alien android Brainiac. The plot will reportedly give as much focus to Lex Luthor as to Superman, with Luthor donning his iconic warsuit as seen in the comics.

The film continues the story of the new DC Universe, with familiar faces from the Daily Planet and the Justice Gang expected to return, and hints that Supergirl may also feature.
