The Fantastic Four: First Steps runtime confirmed – and it's one of the shortest MCU films yet
The film is set to arrive in cinemas in just over a week.

The runtime for Marvel's hotly anticipated new film The Fantastic Four: First Steps has just been revealed – and it's one of the shortest movies in the history of the franchise.
The film clocks in under the two-hour mark at 114 mins and 29 seconds, meaning that of the previous 36 entries in the MCU, only three – The Marvels, The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World – are shorter.
Of course, when we bear in mind that that runtime also includes the lengthy closing credits, it means that the film itself will be even shorter than the advertised length.
The film will be the third time that the hugely popular comic book characters have been brought to the big screen, but it marks their first appearance in the MCU, with Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn stepping into the iconic roles.
There are also key roles for Ralph Ineson and Julia Garner as the family's foes Galactus and Silver Surfer respectively, while Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and John Malkovich are the other big names confirmed as part of the ensemble.
The film is set in a retro-futurist version of the 1960s – with a design heavily influenced by the looks of the original Stan Lee and Jack Kirby comic books – and will see Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing face "their most daunting challenge".
More specific plot details are understandably still being kept under wraps, but the film's trailer – which you can find below – gives us a good idea of what kind of tone we can expect.
Fantastic Four is set for release on Thursday 24th July 2025.
