Stand by for action! The Thunderbirds are almost ready for take-off again, 50 years after the original series aired.
The cult children’s classic, following the adventures of the Tracey family who are secretly committed to averting catastrophe as International Rescue, is returning to our telly screens in Thunderbirds Are Go!, a reboot by ITV.
Here’s our first look at the new series – an image which sees the shiny Thunderbird 1 rocket flying over the iconic Hollywood lettering in LA.
The remake features the voices of Rosamund Pike, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Kayvan Novak and original cast member David Graham and is being made using a mix of CGI and live-action model sets by Weta Workshop, the team behind The Lord of the Rings and Avatar.
“Thunderbirds Are Go! pays tribute to the original series whilst delivering a dynamic action-adventure to thrill a new generation. The iconic characters, craft, music and story elements of the original have been lovingly re-imagined for a 21st century audience,” said the show’s executive producer Giles Ridge.
The show is expected to debut on ITV and CITV early next year.
