A whopping 867 people donned the iconic Superman outfit at the Lake District’s Kendal Calling festival, scooping a Guinness World Record for their efforts.

Festival-goers smashed the previous record for the most people dressed as Superman in one place – held by US store Sears – by a clear 311, and also totted up a peachy £1,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.

Fancy dress store Escapade arranged for hundreds of the outfits to be dished out for free to those keen to get involved, with people of all ages doing their bit for charity.

There was even a bit of Superman crowd surfing going on…

The official Kendal Calling Twitter account shared the exciting news with its followers, as did Escapade Fancy Dress:

There was, of course, a festival going on too, which saw Primal Scream, Basement Jaxx and Public Enemy perform.

Although, with all those spandex onesies, we can’t help but wonder as to the length of the queue for the loo…
