Emmerdale: Charity walks out on Jai

Drastic decisions are made in tonight's double bill

The behaviour of Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) becomes increasingly erratic this evening when he takes his frustrations out on his workforce, chastises his brother Nikhil (Rik Makarem) for bringing baby Molly into the factory and pins his dad Rishi (Bhasker Patel) to the wall.

Jai is, of course, in anguish about the welfare of his own baby Archie, but cannot reveal his concerns for fear that his one-night-stand with Rachel (Gemma Oaten) will be exposed.

But enough is enough for Jai’s wife Charity (Emma Atkins), who still believes that her husband’s odd actions are down to the fact that she doesn’t want children. With Jai unable to explain himself, Charity decides to pack a bag:

“I need some time away from all this,” she explains. “I’ll be at Zak and Lisa’s. Noah’s already there. I have to go, babe, and give you time to work out what you really want.”

In Friday’s episode, viewers will see Charity quiz family members and colleagues (including Rachel) as she grows determined to root out the cause of Jai’s problems.

Outgoing series producer Stuart Blackburn recently spoke to the show’s official website about Jai and Charity’s relationship: “[They] are just such a great couple. But as we all know now, Jai’s got this terrible burden. Obviously, if and when Charity finds out, all hell will break loose. There’s a lot more secrets and lies, and a lot more people to get involved along the way.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm and 8pm on ITV1
