In the 1960s, Vidal Sassoon’s radical geometric haircuts turned the world of hairdressing on its head and his five-point cut and Nancy Kwan bob made him an international star, just as famous as his celebrity clients. Craig Teper’s briskly paced biopic takes us through the significance of Vidal Sassoon’s hairdressing career as well his early life, which included seven years in an orphanage and time as a soldier in the Israeli army.
It’s peppered with enlightening interviews, archive and current, with such fashion icons as Mary Quant and the late Joseph Ettedgui, fellow hairstylists John Frieda and Tony Rizzo and with the man himself who, despite being 83, cuts quite a dash.
