EastEnders' Anthony Trueman has love triangle history with returnee - will it be reignited?

Zoe reappeared in June after 20 years off-screen, but the troubled character fled with a mysterious secret, with worried stepfather Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) heading abroad to help her.

We know that Zoe will be back soon enough, so naturally we're wondering whether she and Doctor Anthony will cross paths.

Before we go any further, a quick recap: Anthony didn't just date a young Zoe - he also had a relationship with her mum Kat (Jessie Wallace), who recently wed Alfie for the third time.

Kat was first to be Anthony's girlfriend, but after they split, Anthony and Zoe got together.

However, Anthony confessed he still loved Kat, and Zoe caught the pair in bed!

Zoe eventually accepted that Anthony wanted to be with Kat, but Kat dumped him after she felt inferior to his work colleagues.

Anthony had been about to propose to Kat, who discovered she was pregnant and planned to have a termination.

After Alfie, then just friends with Kat, persuaded her to keep the baby, Kat went to tell Anthony, only to suffer a miscarriage.

Kat broke things off with Anthony for good, and that was the end of his connection to the Slaters - until now.

It would be strange for Kat not to reference her past with Anthony, and as he ends up staying longer in Walford than originally planned due to a 'significant moment for Patrick', could Anthony cross paths with Zoe too?

Anthony was revealed to have married and had children during his time off-screen, but we know nothing of his current marital status.

With Kat in the dark over Alfie supporting Zoe, might she believe he isn't as committed to her as she thought after all his weeks away, leading Kat to turn to her ex?

Or could Zoe, at her lowest ebb, confide in Anthony and revive a spark long forgotten?

With Zoe and Kat yet to come face to face, there could be more at stake than we thought here.

This is one love triangle we hope won't be brushed under the carpet!
