Freema Agyeman got her TV break with a regular role in ITV’s early noughties revival of the famously shambolic soap Crossroads. Her character, Lola Wise, booked into the King’s Oak Hotel pretending to be a pop star, and ended up having to pay off her debts by working in the kitchen. Skip to 11:04 for the moment she and her sister are rumbled by the manager (and Freema gets in some early companion practice with the line “go and fetch a doctor”).
