The Day (working title), which is based on the 2018 Belgian series De Dag, will also star Skins and Rivals actor Luca Pasqualino, along with Derry Girls and Renegade Nell's Louisa Harland.

The synopsis for The Day says that it is a "propulsive edge-of-your-seat thriller unfolding across a single, gripping day".

The synopsis continues: "When police stumble across a bank robbery mid-heist, the criminals barricade themselves inside, and a terrifying siege begins."

"The series opens from the police perspective, led by hostage negotiator Sylvia “Vox” Voxley (Driver), as she battles time and rising pressure to save the hostages," The synopsis says. "But as the crisis hurtles towards breaking point, the story rewinds – pulling viewers inside the bank to relive the same events through the eyes of the robbers and their hostages.

"With each episode flipping perspective between the police operation and the robbers barricaded inside, The Day (w/t) constantly resets the narrative. Every shift in perspective reframes the truth and deepens the mystery – building to an explosive finale where the full picture finally snaps into place."

The series has been written by Ben Harris and Jesse O’Mahoney, and is in production now. It will premiere in the UK and Ireland at a date to be confirmed.

Harland has most recently been seen in BBC drama The Walsh Sisters, while Pasqualino will soon be seen in the second season of Apple TV drama Criminal Record.

Meanwhile, Driver was seen earlier this year in Netflix's Harlan Coben show Run Away, and stars in The Murder Line, a crime drama also starring Stephen Amell and Hamza Haq.

The Day will stream on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland.
