Who's who in the BBC drama about maternity leave cover gone wrong?
Rianne – Sarah MacRae
Ellen’s sister Rianne is a single mother of two. Her husband walked out on her during her second pregnancy when she was reeling from her mother's death and sister's breakdown.
MacRae starred as Hero in David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s Much Ado About Nothing, and also popped up in The Duchess of Malfi with Gemma Arterton. You might also have spotted her in Silent Witness, or playing Saray in Beowulf: Into the Shieldlands.
Lucy – Kim Allan
Lucy is the office manager at Ellen's firm. She's always been good friends with Ellen but is torn when Paula joins and is such a good laugh.
Scottish actress Allan is something of a mystery thriller veteran at this stage, having popped up in The Five, One of Us and Murder of late. Oh, and if you’re an Outlander fan you might recognise her as the show’s very own Robena.
Vernon – Gilly Gilchrist
Vernon is the client for Ellen’s library project. His avuncular manner belies a steely determination and judgmental nature. Privately, he's uncomfortable about Ellen’s plans to return to work so soon.

Gilchrist has one of those faces you’ve most definitely seen before, with roles in Peak Practice, Minder, Monarch of the Glen, Hornblower, Crossroads and Taggart under his belt. You might also recognise him from Rob Roy, River City, Versailles and Stag, or more recently Rillington Place, In Plain Sight and Fortitude.
