US network CBS has confirmed that they’re working on a new police drama with the working title Flint, with Evan Katz, former showrunner of 24, on board to write it.

According to Variety, Flint will see LeBlanc as an LAPD detective who, shortly before he is due to retire, becomes annoyed when the city extends his service for five more years.

The logline continues: “Determined to get fired, he breaks rules and disobeys orders, which, to his dismay, makes him an even better cop.”

While the show is currently still in the development stage, Flint is being tentatively slated for a release across the 2027-2028 period by CBS.

If given the go-ahead, the series marks a notable turn for LeBlanc, who’s spent the majority of his career in comedies.

After finding fame as Joey Tribbiani in Friends from 1994 to 2004, LeBlanc was given his own character spin-off.

Joey, which followed the character's efforts to "make it" in Hollywood after relocating from New York to LA, ran from 2004 to 2006.

LeBlanc would later play a sent-up version of himself in BBC sitcom Episodes, which earned him a Golden Globe in 2012 for best actor in a comedy series.

His last project was Man With A Plan, a family-centric sitcom about a stay-at-home dad, which ended in 2020 after four seasons.

He’s also tried his hand at presenting, moving to the UK to front four series of BBC’s Top Gear between 2016 and 2019.

On Flint, LeBlanc will also serve as executive producer behind the scenes.
