The race to be the next James Bond star is well and truly on, so much so that a new comedy series has been made about exactly that topic.

Bait, a new six-part series for Prime Video, stars Riz Ahmed as Shah Latif, a struggling actor who gets a last chance to hit it big when the audition of a lifetime – for the role of Bond – comes his way.

The synopsis for the series says that it follows him "over the course of four wild days as his life spirals out of control and his family, ex-lover and the entire world weigh in on whether he is the right man for the job".

It has now been confirmed that all six episodes of the series will be released on Prime Video on Wednesday 25th March, with a first-look clip having also been unveiled.

The clip sees Shah's family finding a news story revealing his audition for the role, and getting a little bit ahead of themselves about just what this means.

Starring alongside Ahmed in the series will be Guz Khan (Stuffed) as Zulfi, Sheeba Chaddha (Hamlet) as Tahira, Sajid Hasan (Hum Sub) as Parvez, Aasiya Shah (Unforgotten) as Q, Weruche Opia (The Jetty) as Felicia and Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy) as Yasmin.

Ahmed not only stars in the series, but also acts as co-showrunner alongside Ben Karlin who has previously written for shows such as Modern Family, Future Man and Minx.

Ahmed will next be seen on our screens taking on a different iconic role to Bond - that of Hamlet, in a new film take on William Shakespeare's masterpiece.
