Danny Dyer speaks out on modern comedy: "For me, Only Fools and Horses doesn’t really work now"
Ahead of Mr Bigstuff season two, Danny Dyer has opened up about what makes comedy work in today's era.

Danny Dyer has given his verdict on classic comedies – admitting he feels like the shows he grew up watching wouldn't work in today's world.
The BAFTA-winning actor is back on screens for the second season of Sky's Mr Bigstuff on 24th July, where his character Lee and brother Glen (Ryan Sampson) find themselves trying to track down their presumed-dead dad.
After a string of hit comedy roles over the last year, which included Disney+'s Rivals, Dyer told Radio Times magazine about the kind of comedy he likes to watch himself.
He admitted he's not a fan of “the canned laughter type of comedy of my youth – for me Only Fools and Horses doesn’t really work now".
Instead, Dyer explained he finds joy in Bill Hicks or Ricky Gervais – stand-up comedy he says “doesn’t give a f***”.

He added that he still doesn’t think Gervais, or anyone else, for that matter, has yet to match The Office's iconic David Brent – "this character that’s so obsessed with himself that he doesn’t realise what a d**khead he is".
The truth, to a degree, can be said for Lee – an obnoxious character who re-entered his estranged brother Glen's life with the airs and grace of a steamroller in Mr Bigstuff's first season.
Nearly always sporting some sort of injury and consistently chain smoking, Lee moved into the home the tightly-wound Glen shares with his partner, Kirsty (played by Harriet Webb), bringing chaos and a tin of his dad's ashes with him.
However, as complications built up, it emerged in the season finale that Glen and Lee's dad didn't actually die – he instead faked his death and legged it to Spain.

With season two picking up two weeks later, viewers will catch up with how the two very different brothers have reacted to the news.
Eventually deciding to try and track their dad down, more chaos will ensue for the pair as they try to get answers from the one person who can provide them.
Throughout the series will be a string of guest stars – including Rula Lenska (Coronation Street), Shaun Williamson (Extras), Shobna Gulati (Coronation Street), David Mumeni (Stath Lets Flats) and Alan Ford (Snatch).
Most notable of the new additions is Danny's ex-EastEnders co-star Linda Henry, who will be playing Pam, a new character described as "a no-nonsense, hands-on mechanic at the family haulage firm".
Speaking to RadioTimes.com at the BAFTAs about what lies ahead, Ryan Sampson, Danny's co-star and the show's creator, said: "There’s a lot of family secrets and revelations unearthed between these brothers. I can’t really say more, but it’s spicy!"
