Not to be confused with the 2007 game Tomb Raider: Anniversary, this year marks the Tomb Raider series' 30th anniversary!

It's been three whole decades since Lara Croft first made her way onto consoles, and it's already shaping up to be a massive year for her and her fans.

So, what's planned to celebrate 30 years of Tomb Raider? We'll take you through everything you need to know.

Tomb Raider 30th anniversary: When is it and what to expect

The 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider will take place on 24th October 2026.

This will mark exactly 30 years since the very first Tomb Raider game was released on the Sega Saturn in Europe, with PlayStation and MS-DOS versions releasing in North America on 14th November.

The main thing we can expect from this year's celebrations – although we still don't have a confirmed release date for it – is the upcoming Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, an out-and-out remake of the very first game.

While there isn't a release date yet, it would be fitting to see it release in conjunction with the official 30th anniversary, especially as it gives players a few weeks to enjoy it before the spectre of GTA 6 engulfs us all.

Furthermore, while not part of this year's celebrations, we also have Tomb Raider: Catalyst coming in 2027, too.

Another bit of Tomb Raider content that we don't have a release date for is the upcoming Tomb Raider TV series, starring Sophie Turner as Lara Croft – we've already discussed the impact of this on the series at length in a separate piece.

While that's unlikely to release this year, it wouldn't surprise us to see a trailer for the show pop up around the anniversary.

Last but not least, UK Tomb Raider fans will have the chance to pop along to the unofficial Tomb Raider Day event TR30.

Taking place at QUAD in Derby, the city where Tomb Raider was first developed, TR30 will play host to former Lara Croft models Natalie Cook (1996-97) and Alison Carroll (2008-2010) and former voices of Lara Croft Judith Gibbins and Jonell Elliot.
