Sadly, this special doesn’t feature a festive dessert belting out a 1970s classic. However, if on next year’s edition there is a Christmas Pudding costume “set alight on stage and singing Disco Inferno”, we’ll know exactly who’s inside.

That’s what Jennifer Saunders has joked she would appear as if she was taking part in this celebrities- sing-underneath-daft-disguises contest. Perhaps it’s best for all involved, in that case, that she’s on the other side of the judging desk tonight, alongside, excitingly, Dawn French and regulars Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross. They’ll be trying to work out who’s behind the masks of Star, Nutcracker, Christmas Cracker and Turkey Crown.
