My Oxford Year cast: Who stars in the Netflix romcom?
Sofia Carson leads the cast alongside Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story breakout Corey Mylchreest.

In the last few years, Sofia Carson has become something of a regular when it comes to Netflix's film output – with main roles in romantic drama Purple Hearts, Christmas-set thriller Carry-On and recent romcom The Life List.
Less than six months after the latter, she's now back in another feature on the streamer, this time collaborating with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story breakout Corey Mylchreest for romcom My Oxford Year (which already has a novel tie-in!).
The film sees Carson star as an American student who heads to Oxford University for a one-year study programme, only to find herself swept off her feet by a charming young man who just happens to be her poetry tutor.
It is directed by The Inbetweeners co-creator Iain Morris, and also includes a couple of other familiar faces in its cast – read on for everything you need to know.

Sofia Carson plays Anna De La Vega

Who is Anna De La Vega? A born and bred New Yorker who moves to Oxford for a year-long poetry programme – and finds her life plan changed when she begins a whirlwind romance.
What else has Sofia Carson been in? Carson first found fame on the Disney Channel, including playing Evie – the daughter of the Evil Queen – in the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants and its two sequels. She also has a host of other Netflix films on her CV, including Feel The Beat, Purple Hearts, Carry-On and The Life List, while she released her debut album as a solo musician in 2022.
Corey Mylchreest plays Jamie Davenport

Who is Jamie Davenport? Anna's new love interest, who also happens to be a teacher on her course. The have a slightly awkward first meeting – that sees him accidentally spray her with water when he drives through a muddy puddle – but they soon fall hard for each other.
What else has Corey Mylchreest been in? Mylchreest's breakout role came playing King George III in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, while he also starred in one episode of Netflix's Sandman and will soon be seen in thriller series Hostage.
Harry Trevaldwyn plays Charlie Butler

Who is Charlie Butler? Anna's roommate, who becomes one of her closest pals in Oxford and is always on hand with advice – and occasionally a cutting remark or two.
What else has Harry Trevaldwyn been in? After first rising to fame for his social media videos, Trevaldwyn has become known for roles on TV shows including Ten Percent, The Outlaws and The Acolyte, while film credits include The Bubble and the recent live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon.
Esmé Kingdom plays Maggie Timbs

Who is Maggie Timbs? The third member of Anna and Charlie's close-knit friendship group, Maggie is fiercely loyal to her pals.
What else has Esmé Kingdom been in? Kingdom previously had a recurring role in the fantasy drama Fallen.
Poppy Gilbert plays Cecelia Knowles

Who is Cecelia Knowles? Jamie's close friend, who doesn't quite get off on the right foot with Anna but soon proves her kindness.
What else has Poppy Gilbert been in? Gilbert has appeared in a number of notable TV shows including Harlan Coben Netflix adaptation Stay Close and BBC One psychological thriller Chloe. She had a main role in 2023 Channel 5 drama The Catch.
Dougray Scott plays William Davenport
Who is William Davenport? Jamie's dad, who loves his son but sometimes clashes with him over their radically different approaches to life.
What else has Dougray Scott been in? Scott has starred in a huge range of film and TV projects over the years, including Mission: Impossible 2, Irvine Welsh's Crime, romantic period drama Ever After, thriller Ripley's Game, and recurring roles in Batwoman and Desperate Housewives. Recent credits include Vigil season 2, A Town Called Malice, The Crow Girl and Sherlock & Daughter.
Catherine McCormack plays Antonia Davenport
Who is Antonia Davenport? Jamie's mum, who is a little more relaxed than her husband and has a somewhat mischievous streak.
What else has Catherine McCormack been in? After playing Murron MacClannough in the Oscar winner Braveheart, McCormack appeared in several other British period dramas including The Land Girls and Dancing at Lughnasa before landing roles in Hollywood fare The Tailor of Panama, Spy Game and 28 Weeks Later.
She's also been seen in episodes of Sherlock, The Witcher, Temple and Slow Horses and had a starring role opposite Colin Firth in Lockerbie: A Search for Truth earlier this year.
