We've been given some new plot details about the upcoming Ocean's Eleven prequel – with star Margot Robbie teasing that the film will focus on the parents of George Clooney's character Danny Ocean.

The news was confirmed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, with the Barbie and Wuthering Heights star appearing during a sizzle reel that teased Warner Bros' 2027 slate.

"Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows – his parents," she revealed.

"You'll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix."

That certainly sounds like a fittingly glamorous setting for the movie, which will star Bradley Cooper alongside Robbie after the former replaced the previously announced Ryan Gosling in the cast.

Cooper will also be helming the project – his fourth film as director following A Star Is Born, Maestro and Is This Thing On? – after Twisters and Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung departed the film due to creative differences last month.

Meanwhile, although Clooney's Danny will not be appearing in this film, there is a separate project planned which will revolve around that character and reunite him with several other stars from the franchise.

Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Don Cheadle will all be back for that film, which will reportedly be inspired by the 1970s comedy Going in Style.

"There was something about the idea that we're too old to do what we used to do, but we're still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me," Clooney said of the project in an interview with Variety late last year.

"They've lost a step, and they need to find a way to work around their limitations."

Clooney previously led three films alongside those aforementioned co-stars – in addition to Andy García, Elliott Gould and Casey Affleck – between 2001 and 2007, all of which were directed by Steven Soderbergh.

The most recent entry was the women-led reboot Ocean's Eight in 2018, which starred Sandra Bullock as Danny's sister Debbie, and also included roles for Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter.

And of course, the Soderbergh trilogy was itself a remake of the 1960 film Ocean's 11, which starred Rat Pack members Peter Lawford, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, and Joey Bishop.
