Action thriller starring Milla Jovovich and Pierce Brosnan. When a diplomatic agent is framed for the murder of her colleagues, she is forced to go undercover to stop the real culprit from detonating a bomb in New York City.
Milla Jovovich stars in this standard action thriller, playing a US government officer in London who must prove her innocence and evade a terrorist assassin (Pierce Brosnan) after being framed for a bombing in the British capital. Slick action unfolds in various London and New York locations, but production values are just window-dressing for what is quite a straightforward "woman on the run" story directed by V for Vendetta and The Raven's James McTeigue. After a slow start, the plot follows a predictable (if often ludicrous) path, with a clunky script making the short running time feel a lot longer. The talented but underused supporting cast is beset by drab dialogue, and it's no surprise that the character who impresses the most says the least. Brosnan's sinister villain raises the stakes, though both he and Jovovich make the most of what they're given. A vapid Times Square finale emphasises the bland tone of the whole thing, and while there is little in the film that's repellent, there's even less about Survivor that's memorable.
