Coming Out Diaries

Radio Times
Review by:
Jack Seale

Three young people courageously allow a
difficult part of their lives to be filmed here. A boy who was born a girl, a girl who was born a boy and a lesbian whose every attempt to come out has seen her bullied all try to free themselves.

The trickiest case is Natalie, whose mother epitomises how parents can fail: her concern over telling her young sons that they no longer have a brother called Kieran is fine, but she expresses it fearfully harshly. Can Nat win her round? And can trainee beautician Tori – who previously found even hairdressing students intolerant of her being gay – muster the resolve to risk losing another set of friends?
