The Summit returned for another thrilling episode as the remaining contestants continue their trek up a demanding mountain.

Across 14 days, the contestants must trek up the mountain with an equal share of £200,000 in their backpacks, finishing at the climactic summit.

But not all of them will make it up there...

The stakes are higher than ever in next week's episode (17 March) as the final four make the last terrifying ascent, with obstacles in the way, including a dangerous crevasse crossing that sees one of them frozen in fear and another's attempt made harder by the menacing mountain's keeper still lurking around.

But in the meantime, read on to find out who has left The Summit so far.

Who left The Summit last night?

As the mountain's keeper set a task for the remaining players to choose one of their own to leave behind, Joel's time in the competition came to an end.

"Love you guys, be safe," Joel said via walkie talkie as the players set off to reach the summit.

He told the cameras: "Maybe if i'd been more savvy and a bit more cut-throat, I would've made the summit. I hope I've made my children proud and my mum and my wife. And as long as they're proud, I'm happy."

Charlett - Episode 6

As Ben Shephard returned for another vote amongst the contestants, the decision was split - either Charlett or Jenny would be sent home.

However one deciding vote meant that Charlett was voted out of the competition.

"I'm shocked by Jenny's reasons, that's just a load of crap if you ask me," Charlett said as she reflected on the group's vote. "Not surprised by Colleen's vote, not surprised by Joel and Warren because there is absolutely no love lost there. But I am very shocked at Drew's, I didn't have him as a two-faced person."

Tara - Episode 5

After Colleen was given the chance to send one of the two contestants home, she ultimately decided to end Tara's journey to The Summit, saving Warren in the process.

As she left, Tara said: "I love you all so much. Joel, Drew, Dockers, Warren even doing that just then, just great people."

Tyra - Episode 4

Tyra became the fifth contestant to be eliminated from The Summit and the second via a vote from the camp.

"I'm not crying because it's over," Tyra began as she addressed the camp. "But I'm crying because I've made a family here. It's hard, but reach that summit and thank you for believing in me. I didn't believe in myself at the last camp, so thank you."

Afton - Episode 3

After a majority vote, Afton was sent home, after many of the contestants felt she wasted valuable time the previous day.

"The group has made a massive mistake because I actually am a strong contender to make it to the summit," she said. "I'm agile, I'm mobile, I'm flexible, I'm strong and I have proven that to all of them and they've made a huge mistake sending me home."

Patrick - Episode 2

In another race to reach the next checkpoint, Patrick injured himself, thus forfeiting his place in the competition.

"You guys make it to the summit," Patrick told his cast members in a teary goodbye.

Shephard had previously opened up about Patrick's injury, telling press including Radio Times: "We had one very bad injury at one point, because Patrick decided to do something he was told not to do, and the reality of what they were doing physically becomes really stark, because he hurt himself so much, so he had to sort of retire from the show.

"But it was all because he wasn't he didn't listen to what he was told to do. He wanted to try and prove himself."

Miranda - Episode 2

A woman stood looking worn out, with her hands on her hips. She is wearing a pink t-shirt and a green cap.

During the second leg of the race to the summit, Miranda realised she could no longer continue and eventually called time on her journey.

"The body was battered from yesterday. As I set off hiking, I just knew that that leg wasn't gonna make it anywhere," she said as she reflected on her decision. "My time in this amazing, wonderful, beautiful place is done, but I have enough memories for an entire lifetime."

Thomas - Episode 1

As the contestants reached Old Miners Crossing, they soon learned they had to cross a rickety bridge one-by-one, but that wasn't the only surprise in store.

Once the first seven contestants made it over the bridge, the mysterious Mountain's Keeper dropped a box, which included an axe and instructions to cut the rope on the bridge, thus forfeiting one player in the game.

After a majority vote, the team decided to vote out Thomas, thus cutting his time in The Summit rather short.

The Summit begins on Tuesday 3 March at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
