She stars as Agnes, a teenage girl attending Aunt Lydia’s elite school for the future wives of Gilead in the 10 part series based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel of the same name.

The original Handmaid’s Tale series, which aired from 2017 until 2025, was known for featuring classic and often poignant pop and rock songs to underscore the brutality onscreen, from Kate Bush’s iconic This Woman’s Work during a harrowing scene in the second season to Simple Minds’ Don’t You Forget About Me, which played over the end credits of the second ever episode.

Brittany Whyte, who is the music supervisor for The Testaments and also worked on The Handmaid’s Tale, The ‘Burbs, drama series You and the original Gossip Girl, has thankfully continued the tradition of using meaningful songs from different eras in the new series.

Alongside Adam Taylor’s score, she and her team have included well known songs from different decades on the soundtrack, often sung by female artists ranging from Blondie and '60s girl group The Dixie Cups to Scala & Kolacny Brothers, the Belgian women’s choir.

The theme song featured in the trailer for the new series is Dreams by The Cranberries, which is also heard over the end credits of the first episode.
