Victoria Hamilton – Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother

She is a constant pillar of support to her husband throughout his time as a reluctant king. Widowed at the early age of 51, the Queen Mother struggles to maintain her position of power and sense of purpose.

“Peter [Morgan]’s given her much more of an edge than I think people are going to expect her to have,” says Hamilton. “I’ve learnt a lot about her need to preserve the institution that is the Royal Family and how involved she was in that.”

Where do I recognise her from?

Best known for her role as Victoria in Victoria and Albert, Hamilton has also played several comedy roles, including in the very recent Our Ex-Wife and The Circuit.


Greg Wise - Lord Louis Mountbatten

Lord Mountbatten was a British statesman and naval officer, an uncle of Prince Philip and the second cousin once removed to Elizabeth II.

Where do I recognise him from?

He starred alongside Rowan Atkinson in Johnny English, he was in Sense and Sensibility and was also in the series The Outcast and Homefront.


Pip Torrens - Tommy Lascelles

The King's Private Secretary runs a tight ship with The Queen Mother - and woe betide anyone who steps out of line...

Where do I recognise him from?

Well it's only Poldark's very own Cary Warleggan, George's scheming uncle. But Torrens has done much more than merely cause trouble for Aidan Turner's Cornish captain. You might have spotted him Black Mirror, Doctor Who, My Week With Marilyn, The Danish Girl and Outnumbered to name but a few.
