Martin Clunes transforms into Huw Edwards in new extended first-look trailer for 5 drama
The drama will air as a one-off, feature-length programme on Tuesday 24 March.
Following on from the release of a short teaser earlier this month, the full-length trailer for 5 drama Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards has now been unveiled.
The trailer gives us our best look yet at Martin Clunes's (Doc Martin) portrayal of disgraced BBC News presenter Huw Edwards, while also showing us Osian Morgan (Under Salt Marsh) in his key supporting role as 'Ryan'.
The trailer sees Morgan's 17-year-old character saying "there's a man who gives us money", while Edwards is told that "Britain has spoken – you are the voice of the nation".
The pair are then seen on a video call, with the teenager asking the newsreader what he would like to talk about. "Nothing, show me something instead," Clunes's Edwards replies, as Ryan takes off his top.
You can watch the full-length trailer above.
After initially being announced as a two-part drama, Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards is now a one-off feature length programme, running for two hours, which will air later this month.
The synopsis for the TV film reads: "Starring Martin Clunes as Edwards, the series explores the newsreader’s double life as it spirals out of control, leading him to make the greatest announcement of his career – his total exit from public life following his conviction for serious child sexual offences."

Alongside Clunes and Morgan, the drama also stars Ben Bishop (Endeavour) and Clare Calbraith (Grace), who play The Sun journalists Ben O'Driscoll and Victoria Newton.
For decades, Edwards was one of the most recognisable faces of journalism, and fronted BBC's News at Ten. In 2024, he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, and was given a six-month suspended sentence.
Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards will air on Tuesday 24 March at 9pm on 5.
