While the actor, who plays Jamie Tartt on the show, wasn’t included in the official season 4 cast list when it was announced last July, he hasn’t explicitly denied a comeback and was spotted on the show’s Richmond set in September 2025, fuelling rumours that he could be returning.

Speaking to The Telegraph in a new interview, Dunster was asked whether he could make an appearance in season 4, to which he responded: “Never say never, and fingers crossed.”

Meanwhile, speaking recently to PEOPLE, Dunster was asked whether he’s been speaking to Hannah Waddingham and Jason Sudeikis about filming, and if he has a sense of what fans can expect.

"Yes. Maybe. Maybe," he responded, before going on to note that it feels "amazing" to hear from the cast.

"I'm so happy that it's still in the world, and I love that show so much," he added. "I can't wait to watch it."

After the rumour mill first started churning following Dunster’s absence from the official season 4 cast list, Deadline reported that the actor would not be returning due to scheduling conflicts.

Dunster then told the Always Be Comedy podcast that that wasn't the case and that he “didn’t know” if he would appear in the fourth season.

He said: "It’s been greenlit to write another series. It’s been announced that series 4 is going to be a thing. There’s been a commission to write the fourth series, whether that ends up being a show, I don't know. I don't know any of that stuff. I don't know if I'll be in it. There are certain members of the cast who have been re-upped, as it were."

He continued: "But yeah, I mean it's pretty good news I think in that it looks like it will happen. Season 4 is going be a thing. They start writing next year, I think. But yeah, other than that I don't really know anything."

Ted Lasso fans will know that Tartt got a fairly conclusive ending to his arc in the season 3 finale, having transformed from an egotistical player to a mature and team-driven leader, and having reconnected with his father.
