Borderlands 4 confirms Nintendo Switch 2 release date, and it's sooner than you might think
Another Randy Pitchford social media masterclass.

While Borderlands 4 has long been confirmed for a Nintendo Switch 2 release, we haven't had much info on the actual release date. That was, until now.
Follow an initial 23rd September release date for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, this was later moved forward thanks to how smoothly development was progressing.
And it appears that quick development has impacted the Switch 2 version of the game too, with the port releasing only three weeks after the initial launch.
In a recent video posted to social media, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed that Borderlands 4 will release on the Switch 2 on 3rd October 2025.
Before this, all we knew about the port was that it was slated to release by the end of 2025, with most fans expecting a late November or early December release in time for Christmas.
Clearly, this was something that Gearbox was aware of, with Pitchford referencing it directly in the announcement.
"It's not next year, it's not even the holiday, it's so much before Christmas, it's so much before Thanksgiving," he teased.
Despite some brief controversy surrounding the game's potential price, excitement for the game is high, with the title set to course correct from Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, both of which drew criticism from players.

In an interview last month, lead writer Taylor Clark confirmed that "we listen to the fans" when it comes to the game's development, something which appears to be paying off.
In our own hands-on preview of Borderlands 4, we were mightily impressed with some of the new gameplay changes.
Whether or not the hype around the game translates into sales and acclaim when it releases in September remains to be seen, but if it does, you can bet that plenty of Switch 2 owners will be lining up for their copies when October rolls around.
