Tickets for the hotly-anticipated Denis Villeneuve sequel, which is set to land in cinemas on Friday 18 December, went on sale on Monday evening (6 April) across the US, the UK and Canada.

And within hours, Warner Bros announced that the tickets had sold out.

In an Instagram post announcing the news, and also revealing that more tickets are set to go on sale soon, the company wrote: "Sign up for ticket alerts at http://imax.com/dune70mm to be notified as soon as more showtimes are added.

"Dune: Part Three only in theaters and IMAX December 18. #DuneMovie #FilmedforIMAX."

Speaking previously about his approach to filming the third film, Villeneuve explained that much of the movie was shot using 70mm film and IMAX cameras.

He said: “A big part of it was shot in IMAX film, which was the first time for me, but I kept the desert in digital because I like the brutality of the digital IMAX.”

He went on to describe the IMAX cameras as "epic" and "the best cameras in the world".

He continued: "When you see the result on screen, it’s quite unmatchable. It was a unique experience for me, and I hope I will have the chance to do it again. It is the most immersive format."

He added: "Cinema is an art form that is meant to make you travel and experience things that you would not in regular life. At the end of the day, I think, as human beings, it’s important to share experiences."

Dune: Part Three will be released in UK cinemas on 18 December 2026.
