New The Blair Witch Project film brings back original cast and creators over 25 years after cult horror classic
The new take on the found footage classic will be directed by young filmmaker Dylan Clark.

A new Blair Witch Project film is on the way – and it's just been revealed that the original cast and creators are returning as producers for this follow-up to the found footage horror classic.
The original's directing team of Eduardo Sánchez and Daniel Myrick, plus stars Joshua Leonard and Michael C Williams and producer Gregg Hale, will all be serving as executive producers on the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, young director Dylan Clark – who does not yet have a feature credit to his name but has had major success with various short films – will be helming the project.
Clark has rewritten an original script by Chris Thomas Devlin, who previously penned 2022's Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot, with Williams explaining on social media that this new take on the franchise is "not a 'remake'".

When a new Blair Witch film was first announced at CinemaCon back in 2024, Lionsgate film chair Adam Fogelson called it "a new vision for Blair Witch that will reintroduce this horror classic for a new generation".
At that time, no one from the original filmmaking team was involved – something which Leonard had expressed his annoyance about on Instagram.
He wrote: "At this point, it’s 25 years of disrespect from the folks who’ve pocketed the lion’s share (pun intended) of the profits from OUR work, and that feels both icky and classless."
Clearly, that situation has now been rectified, and so it will be fascinating to see how this new film honours the legacy of the trailblazing original.
In total, this is the fourth film in the franchise, though neither 2000 sequel Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 or 2016's reboot Blair Witch received anything like this acclaim of the ultra low budget first entry.
We're still awaiting plot and cast details of this new instalment, but we'll be looking out for all the latest developments and will be sure to keep you updated as and when concrete news arrives.
