Charity may come to regret getting engaged to Jai when his mother Georgia, played by Trudie Goodwin (The Bill‘s Sergeant June Ackland) arrives to check her out in Emmerdale.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be playing Georgia in Emmerdale,” said Goodwin. “She is a difficult-to-please woman who is set to make life difficult for Charity. I can’t wait to start filming.”

Georgia Sharma isn’t the only one of Jai’s family to come to the village: Holby Blue’s Bhasker Patel is Georgia’s business-mad husband and Grange Hill’s Fiona Wade is their “fun-loving and flirtatious daughter”.

Emmerdale series producer Stuart Blackburn commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Trudie, Bhasker and Fiona to the cast. There are plenty of trials and tribulations in store for the ever-popular Sharma family.”

Filming begins with the new family next week and we will see them on screen from early November.
