The actors, who were the faces of Doctor Who's triumphant return to screens in 2005, helmed by Russell T Davies, have joined forces for a new Big Finish audio adventure, with the trailer now being released.

In what is sure to be a nostalgia hit for fans who loved watching the Ninth Doctor's on-screen run, the trailer for the new adventure, Doctor Who: Snare, follows the Doctor and Rose as they encounter something very strange indeed - a neon jungle in the bathroom of a flat on the Powell Estate.

Additional clips also see the Doctor, Rose and, of course, Rose's iconic mum Jackie Tyler (Camille Coduri) encounter a terrifying monster with tentacles. Safe to say, Jackie is not happy that movie night has been interrupted!

Written by Tim Foley, Snare – the first instalment of Big Finish's new Ninth Doctor Adventures – is available for pre-order now ahead of its release in August.

The official synopsis reads: "Kevin left the Powell Estate a long time ago. He wasn’t going to be trapped there. But all these years later, he’s back and clearing out his dad’s old flat. At least his neighbours, the Tylers, are still here.

"But Rose has a strange new man in her life. And this Doctor’s going to show Kevin a world he never knew existed. Unfortunately, something ancient is stirring on the Estate. Perhaps Kevin will be trapped here after all..."

Eccleston previously said of reuniting with Piper: "I am so happy to be back recording more adventures for the Ninth Doctor with Billie. I don't think my Doctor exists without Rose.

"He's a 'one man, one companion' kind of alien. We've explored him on his own at Big Finish, as a loner. But there's a resilience and a bravery and a deep empathy to Billie as Rose, that's why I do this. They complete each other."

Meanwhile, Piper, who recently made her shock on-screen return to Doctor Who, added: "I can’t think of a better time for Rose to reunite with her first Doctor than now.

"Twenty years after she first ran into the TARDIS and towards adventure, here we are again, me and Chris, ready to have fun facing the universe – and the monsters – together."

You can pre-order Doctor Who: The Ninth Doctor Adventures: Snare now. Doctor Who is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
