If you enjoy your fantasy with drama and adventure, you’ll no doubt have already heard of the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End from studio Madhouse and creator Kanehito Yamada.
Previously established as a manga in Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine back in April 2020, the series follows the titular character Frieren, an elven mage who adventures through a fantasy world.
As an elf with a lifespan that far outlasts most she meets, Frieren comes to reckon with her friends' mortality in comparison to her own, which leads her to journey to a place where she can say a proper goodbye to her comrade, Himmel, who fought to defeat the Demon King.
It may sound fairly melancholic, and there are instances where it is, but Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End first season was well received by critics and fans alike. And now they want more.

At the time of writing, Crunchyroll has confirmed that viewers can expect to see the second instalment of Frieren’s adventures sometime in January 2026.
It will be aired in the following territories: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and India.

What could the plot of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End season 2 be?
The first season dealt with Frieren having to come to terms with the fact that her life span means she’ll lose most of the people she loves.
We suspect this will continue in season 2, as this series prides itself on tackling some tough questions and circumstances.
Speaking of which, the first season ended with Frieren and Fern completing their mage exams. Fern passed with flying colours, though Frieren ended up being banned from the Magic Association. It puts a spanner in the works for our heroes.
Even so, we doubt Frieren and co are planning to turn back now. Season 2 will continue the adventurer’s journey through the northern territories to get to Himmel and say goodbye.
