Will there be a Virgin River season 8?

It's good news for fans of the cosy romantic drama, as season 8 of Virgin River has been confirmed by Netflix.
The renewal came days after production wrapped on season 7 - which is available to stream now - and marked a turning point for the streamer as the series became Netflix's longest-running live-action scripted series, surpassing both Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black.
"On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters," showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Tudum.
Is there a confirmed release date for Virgin River season 8?
Unfortunately not, and that may come as bad news for those who have binged all 10 episodes of season 7.
A release date for Virgin River season 8 has not been confirmed by Netflix, but it'll be a while yet, with production not beginning until April. Though it is planned to wrap in August, meaning we could expect a release in 2027 based on previous release patterns.

Who isn't returning for Virgin River season 8?

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed that two key cast members - Marco Grazzini and Lauren Hammersley - will not be returning to Virgin River for season 8.
They play Mike and Charmaine respectively, whose arcs drew to a close in season 7.
"For me, I’m just trying to look to the longevity of the show and making sure that the characters that we’re keeping have enough story engine in them to keep going," Smith told Deadline.
"So I can’t say there are any specific cast shakeups planned, but I think we will have to start to — as characters run their course — make some decisions and bring in some new blood."
What could happen in Virgin River season 8?

Patrick Sean Smith has confirmed that season 8 will begin with a four-month time jump, answering plenty of questions fans undoubtedly have after yet another cliffhanger ending.
Season 8 will reveal the outcome of Mel and Jack's baby surgery as well as Brady's fate, with Smith telling Netflix's Tudum: "That will also play out in season 8, whether he survived the accident or not."
There will also be a new couple in Virgin River next season, with Smith confirming to Deadline: "We’ll explore a new relationship for Muriel (Teryl Rothery) next season" with someone who "might be a little close to Mel," suggesting that it'll be Mel's father, Everett (John Allen Nelson).
Clay (Cody Kearsley) will continue to search for his sister, picking up where we left off in season 7, with Brie confirmed to help him. Smith said: "We’ll get into some sibling themes with Jack and Brie, who had a bit of a rough patch in their relationship in season 8. That mirrors what’s going on with Clay and his sister."
And despite some secrecy around him, Clay won't be the next antagonist, with Smith confirming he'll become "Jack’s right-hand man on the farm as we start to expand that out".
