Few TV shows have courted controversy quite so brazenly over the years than South Park, which has rarely held back with its often rude and sharp-tongued commentary on the issues and celebrities of the day.

It's surprising, then, that the show's latest drama originated from its inner circle, with a spat between creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Paramount Global and merging media company Skydance creating uncertainty around the season 27 launch.

The dispute led to an initial two-week delay, which Parker and Stone complained about on X, while the show was also pulled from Paramount+ outside of the United States in a blow to regular viewers.

Fortunately, things do appear to be moving towards a resolution. Here's everything we know so far about the status of season 27, and whether you can currently watch from the UK.

South Park season 27 is currently scheduled to premiere in the US on Wednesday 23rd July 2025 on Comedy Central.

The premiere was delayed by two weeks amid a dispute between South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and media giants Paramount Global and Skydance (which are midway through a merger).

In late July 2025, The Los Angeles Times reported that the parties had found a path forward, but at the time of writing, South Park is still not available to stream on Paramount+ outside of the United States.

Can you watch South Park season 27 in the UK?

No, you cannot currently watch South Park season 27 in the UK on a streaming subscription.

Earlier this month, South Park disappeared from its usual streaming home of Paramount+ everywhere outside of the United States, as the company's licence to stream the show had expired.

The process of renewing the licence appears to be tied in to an overall row between South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Paramount Global and Skydance; two companies which are planning to merge, pending regulator approval.

As reported by THR, the disagreement related to a proposed $3 billion deal between Parker and Stone's Park County and Paramount Global, which would come into effect in 2027 and keep the series alive for another decade.

Skydance was unhappy with the length and cost of the deal, according to THR's sources, which had resulted in the uncertainty, but The Los Angeles Times has since reported that a compromise has been settled on.

It appears that the deal has essentially been halved, now totalling $1.5 billion across five years; it had previously been detailed as double the size in both value and length.

This hopefully means that South Park will be restored to Paramount+ internationally in the near future, but it remains absent at the time of writing.

For now, episodes can still be purchased from Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) vendors, such as Amazon or YouTube – or, alternatively, DVDs of past seasons are available for a more retro feel.

South Park season 27 is expected to once again take aim at recent world events and pop culture news stories, with the recent trailer teasing conflict between the US and Canada, a ketamine habit for Randy and a job for Butters in air traffic control.

Expect the show's usual rude, provocative and surreal sense of humour to continue.
