Davy Jones's locker has been blown wide open, it would seem, as we’re going to be going over everything there is to know about the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced release date, as well as all the latest news.

It’s been something of an open secret for a while now, with a potential Collector's Edition statue breaking cover earlier this year, on Vinted of all places.

Last year, Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan teased a Black Flag remake, too. We always knew there was a bit of fire in all that smoke!

But, perhaps tired from all the speculation, Ubisoft has gone and casually revealed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced in a blog post, stating that "some whispers have a little more wind in their sails".

It's certainly a worthy endeavour, as we reckon Assassin's Creed Black Flag is one of the best in the series.

So, with the proverbial pirate cat out of the bag, read on for all there is to know about Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Black Flag Resynced!

When is the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced release date?

Currently, there is no announced Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced release date.

As the Black Flag remake has barely had a real announcement, this is hardly surprising. There’s no way of knowing how far along in development it is either, but we can assume that much of the work on the ‘quadruple-A’ Skull and Bones will be carried over, which could expedite things.

If we were to hazard a guess, we reckon it will release sometime between 1 April 2026 and 31 March 2027, as that is the next financial year for Ubisoft, which will want to spread things out after the success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Once we have more information, by way of leaks, rumours or official announcements, we will update you as soon as we can!

Can I pre-order Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced?

You cannot currently pre-order Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

As we touched upon earlier, Ubisoft has only just acknowledged the Black Flag Remake’s existence, so it may be some time yet before we can even hope to have a sniff of a pre-order.

But when pre-orders are revealed, we will update this page with where you can pre-order it from and what editions there are to buy.

Which consoles and platforms can play Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced?

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will most likely come to PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S.

Judging by Ubisoft’s efforts with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, they will no doubt want it on as many platforms as possible.

Depending on exactly when it comes out, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced may also receive a PlayStation 6 and next-gen Xbox version, with the former suggesting it would also be playable on the much-rumoured PlayStation handheld.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced gameplay and story details

If Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is to be a remake, we can expect the gameplay and story to hew to the line of the original, seeing as it is so beloved, but that’s not to say there won’t be any changes made.

The original Black Flag follows protagonist Edward Kenway, captain of the Jackdaw, as he sleuths and assassinates his way around the 18th-century Caribbean, trying to unravel a conspiracy between the Templars, British and Spanish Empires.

The star of the show, of course, is the Jackdaw, as sailing around islands in what felt like a Pirates of the Caribbean simulator is just as much fun as it was in 2013.

As for changes, a video from Jeux Vidéo purports that the Black Flag Remake will remove the sections taking place in 2013, with gameplay more akin to that of the more recent RPG-style of Assassin’s Creed games.

Loading screens between the Jackdaw and land are supposedly set to be removed, too, but apparently, the map won’t be any bigger, but could include more activities.

It’s also said that we might see the reintroduction of cut content, such as Mary Read’s storyline.

A handy Reddit post in r/GamingLeaksandRumours succinctly summarises the video.

Is there an Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced trailer?

There are no Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced trailers.

All we have is a piece of concept art, which can be viewed at the top of this article.

However, what’s old is new, and we can gawk at the trailer for the original Black Flag to remind us of what seafaring fun is to be had.

It’s still a handsome game by all accounts, but 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity was such a leap that it quickly looked old, a reminder of its 7th-generation console origins.

With that in mind, we’re excited to see how a modern-day Black Flag will look!
