Episode 1: Episode 1

Summary

Comedy, co-written by and co-starring Daisy May Cooper. After the memorial, Nic is kicked out of the house and shunned by everyone in the village but a tarot card reading warns her of a foreboding figure in her future that could affect her and her son. Dan puts Ollie's patience to the test by roller skating and Nic moves in with Jen

Review

Jack Seale

Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli love to keep us on the wrong foot: their comedy drama is deliberately bewildering, playing around with time and storytelling perspectives to make its meandering story more or less work. So you might expect a big change of scenery or a temporal jump at the start of season two — but no, we carry straight on in the aftermath of the memorial service where the affair between chaotic mum Nic (Cooper) and her deceased brother-in-law was revealed.

As Nic goes on the run, there’s a blazing guest turn from Tom Davis as a deranged taxi driver and another funny one-scener by Jamali Maddix as a droll hotel receptionist. Plus, the bigger secret — of exactly how Nic’s illicit liaison ended — still looms as the show’s leaps of imagination and cheeky pop-culture references mean there’s never a slack moment.
