Just minutes away from the British Museum on the edge of beautiful leafy Russell Square, this luxurious centrally located hotel offers a welcome rest from 21st Century city life.
Its central location makes it an ideal base for both business and leisure travellers, with a staff that – despite its size- offer every guest a personal service giving the residence a very intimate feel.
The grand entrance is what visitors to London would dream of in an historic hotel; sweeping staircases, stone pillars and elaborate lighting hanging from the high ceilinged atrium. With more than a few nods to the building’s past, the beautiful décor also has a contemporary twist with it, a theme that runs through the building from the dining room to the bedrooms.
Guestrooms are spacious and well-appointed, offering period features (mine had a bay window with seat) as well as elegant design and all of the modern amenities one would expect from a world class hotel in a world class city.
The large en-suite bathroom is no different; with a roll-top bath for a luxurious soak, as well as a powerful modern rainforest shower for those with less time.
The hotel is a popular choice for conferences and weddings and has a range of conferencing and banqueting facilities to ensure such events go smoothly.
A wonderful blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury, you will leave this hotel rested, relaxed and with a smile on your face.
Eating and drinking
The Tempus Restaurant offers a relaxed yet opulent environment in which to dine; with walnut floors and spectacular architectural features offset by modern furnishings and soft music.
The restaurant – and its helpful and attentive staff – come alive at dinner when the restaurant offers a wide range of thoughtfully constructed meat, fish and vegetable dishes, many of which offer a welcome twist on what you might usually expect.
A well chosen wine list allows the staff to pair the right drink to your meal, by the bottle and by the glass.
Tempus (as with all good restaurants) is a place where dining is seen as an experience, and food is delivered to you in a timely yet never rushed fashion, allowing you to soak up the atmosphere, win, food and company in your own time.
The restaurant also plays host to an excellent daily buffet breakfast, as well as a good lunch menu.
Tempus Bar is an equally pleasing place to have a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap, directly across the hall from the restaurant.
Those choosing to stay in the privacy of their own room can enjoy an extensive room service menu 24-hours a day.
