The Celebrity Traitors season 2 reached an epic conclusion tonight on BBC One, as it was finally revealed whether the Faithful or the Traitors managed to win the prize fund.

After a brutal murder by the Traitors, the finalists - Romesh Ranganathan, Maya Jama, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, King Kenny, James Blunt and Sebastian Croft - took part in one last mission before the final roundtable – where they could learn the identity of a player that was banished.

But by the end of the 80-minute special, just five players remained, with their sights sets on the £83,000 prize pot for their chosen charity.

After keeping viewers on the very edge of their seats in an incredibly tense stand-off between the Traitors and Faithful, Sebastian Croft and Romesh Ranganathan were crowned the winners of The Celebrity Traitors season 2.

In classic Traitors fashion, the final roundtables were no walk in the park, after the players hurled Traitor accusations at one another before the final decision was made. The time then came for the players to decide whether or not they thought another Traitor was amongst them.

As the banishments continued, Leigh-Anne Pinnock was sent home and then King Kenny, much to their dismay. With just three Faithful remaining, it seemed the game was going to end, but James Blunt was unsure and chose to vote again, but this backfired and led to his banishment.

Splitting the prize, Sebastian Croft revealed that his £41,000 was going to Choose Love while Romesh Ranganathan shared his donation would go to Refugee Council.

The Celebrity Traitors has once again proven to be a massive hit for the BBC, with the launch episode becoming the biggest for a Traitors series across both the celebrity and civilian versions, with the BBC describing it as the biggest launch episode of any series across the entire market, scripted or unscripted, since at least 2022.

The broadcaster noted that 8.9 million views of the first two episodes came through BBC iPlayer, accounting for 58 per cent of the audience, while 3.1 million viewers were aged 16 to 34, a record level of younger-audience engagement for the show that made up roughly a fifth of the launch audience.

Tonight's finale will be followed by an extra special episode of The Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked, in which the all-star cast, the finalists and Claudia Winkleman will join Ed Gamble as they react to the final episode and reveal all about their time at the castle.

The Celebrity Traitors is available to watch on catch-up on BBC iPlayer.
