As American Horror Story season 13 reaches its climax, creator Ryan Murphy is far from done with this sinister universe.

Fittingly, the 13th season has been centred around the number 13 – deemed notoriously "unlucky" number – with a care assistant with triskaidekaphobia (a fear of the dreaded number) looking after former faces from the franchise.

As the supernatural blends with the horror and more twists are played out (including a surprise appearance from dead Tory Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher), the number is far from the worst thing he has to deal with as the story plays out.

But why stop at 13 when there's 14 to think about?

Here's everything you need to know about American Horror Story's return to screen once the latest season is over.

Will American Horror Story return for season 14?

Yes! It was confirmed on 20th October 2026 that American Horror Story will return for a 14th season.

The story was broken by Variety, and was later confirmed by the official American Horror Story Instagram account and FX, who simply posted a picture of the number 14.

"I bet you thought you’d seen the last of us," they wrote. "FX’s American Horror Story returns for a 14th instalment on FX."

Ryan Murphy and the cast are yet to comment on what that means going forward.

What could American Horror Story season 14 be about?

Traditionally, every season of AHS has its own name, with each telling a separate story. Though over time, the lines have begun to blur, with characters and locations appearing in multiple story arcs.

At the time of writing, a name for season 14 has not been announced, with Murphy often waiting until close to release date to announce it.

When could American Horror Story season 14 be released?

Currently, AHS14 has not begun production, so a release date is not yet known.

Typically, FX release one season of American Horror Story a year – something they have largely held firm on throughout the show's run with the exception of 2020 (because of Covid) and 2025.

With a consistent presence in FX's fall line-up, if the team return to their yearly output, we can estimate the next series will air around September 2027.

Where can I watch American Horror Story?

FX own American Horror Story, with the show airing on the network in the US. The series is available to watch on Disney+/Hulu in the UK.

Who could be in the American Horror Story season 14 cast?

Casting has also not been confirmed yet for AHS 14, but there are multiple actors who have appeared in most, if not all, of the seasons to date as several different characters.

These include:

It wouldn't be a surprise if some of these names returned once again, though we'll keep you updated once we know for sure.
