Comedian and actor Sanjeev Bhaskar wil come to the aid of the Doctor in the final episode of the new series of Doctor Who. 

The star of The Kumars at No.42 will appear in the upcoming eighth season alongside new Doctor Peter Capaldi and his companion Clara, played by Jenna Coleman. 

"I'm thrilled to have made a small contribution to and now be part of the Doctor Who universe," said Bhaskar, adding. "Another dream box ticked!"

"I'm completely thrilled that Sanjeev Bhaskar is coming to the aid of the Doctor," said showrunner Steven Moffat of his latest cast member. "The danger is never deadlier than in a finale episode, and the Time Lord is going to need all the help he can get!" 

Filming for the new episodes is still under way ahead of the start of series eight, which begins airing on BBC1 from 23 August. In addition to Bhaskar, a string of famous faces are confirmed to appear including Keeley Hawes, Hermione Norris, Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Michelle Gomez and Foxes.
