Helen McCrory has three Harry Potter films and a James Bond role under her belt, while her husband Damian Lewis has become a globally recognised actor since landing the lead in US conspiracy thriller Homeland. But it seems even the stars can be star-struck, as a visit to the White House demonstrated…
The pair had been invited to dinner by Barack Obama, who names Homeland as his favourite TV show – and before sitting down to eat, they made sure they took an intimate tour of the President’s residence.
“We took snaps of each other in every room, including the loo. Thrilling!” says McCrory in an interview in the new issue of Radio Times.
“Then we walked into this marquee, chatting away…we suddenly looked at the rectangle stage. Warren Buffet, Helen McCrory, Damian Lewis, the President of the United States, George Clooney and an admiral.
"We didn’t even say anything, we just looked at each other. I could just hear my heart going de-DOOM!”
