Episode 3: Episode 3
Summary
The sewers are challenged to channel fashion's most influential figures as they put their own spin on Diane von Furstenberg's wrap dress and turn home furnishings into punk-inspired looks in tribute to Vivienne Westwood. In the made to measure challenge, the sewers create luxurious garments inspired by the iconic style of Versace
Review
Jane Rackham
This week’s theme is design icons, so the workroom is awash with Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses, subversive Vivienne Westwood bondage wear (made from old curtains and rugs) and glamorous Versace-inspired made-to-measure outfits. The amateur stitchers find all these challenges tricky, even the person who says he’s never used jersey to make his wrap dresses, only “firm cotton”, which presenter Sara Pascoe mishears as “Fearne Cotton”.
Regular Bee watchers will know how much Patrick Grant likes to dress up in this programme so will enjoy the moment he pops on a Donatella Versace blonde wig to announce the time checks in Italian, although, frankly, he looks more like Sam Ryder.
