Episode 8: Episode 8
Summary
The sewers tackle three challenges inspired by the silver screen, beginning by following a pattern for a jacket like the one worn by actress Tippi Hedren in Hitchcock classic The Birds. They let their imaginations run wild in the made to measure round as they design an outfit for a horror movie character, and the transformation task sees them turning red cinema curtains and tiebacks into a glamorous outfit for a Hollywood party
Review
Jane Rackham
The Bee is usually a relaxing watch: the contestants are charming, the judges are kind, and sewing is a homely, comforting activity. But Movie Week’s pattern challenge is so stressful that your blood pressure will soar. The remaining five stitchers are making a jacket like the one Tippi Hedren wore in Hitchcock’s The Birds. It’s very challenging, with — dreaded word — gussets. The transformation round is equally tense, although the tailor-made task isn’t a horror show — you’ll see what I mean when you watch. As a postscript, wasn’t Esme’s farewell to last week’s departee sweet?
