Here it is. Our very first teaser trailer for series five of Downton Abbey.
Yes, it’s only 20 seconds long. But, oh, how glorious those 20 seconds are.
We might not get to see any of those lovely familiar faces, but as the camera pans through the Downton we know and love – a letter rack, roses dropping their petals, opening shutters, a ringing servants bell, a laid table – we do get a very real feel for what series five has in store. And it seems that change is going to play a big part in the upcoming season.
“I feel a shaking of the ground I stand on,” says Jim Carter, aka Carson, over the trailer, continuing: “The nature of life is not permanence but flux. Things are changing.”
Downton Abbey will be back on ITV later this year.

She loves light-hearted dramas and glossy US series - and is more than a little bit obsessed with Downton Abbey. Foodie, sun-seeker and aspiring novelist in her own time. Likes the fact that her name rhymes with telly.
