The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants could be preparing for a reunion.
Lena, Bridget, Tibby and Carmen, the childhood friends tied together by a magical pair of jeans, could be meeting up again for another film.
The tale of the foursome, played by Blake Lively, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn, was adapted from Ann Brashares’ book to the cinema screen first in 2005 and then again in 2008. And another film, based on Brashare’s 2012 novel Sisterhood Everlasting, is now in the works.
Sisterhood Everlasting picks up ten years after the events of the previous novels, as the girls have grown up and grown apart – until Tibby instigates a reunion to bridge the gap between the girls and they set off on a life-changing trip.
The film’s original director Ken Kwapis is poised to take the helm of the sequel, with The Lifeguard’s Liz Garcia writing the screenplay. And the plan is to reunite the film’s original stars, too…
President of Alloy Entertainment Les Morgenstein, who is also set to co-produce the movie, said: “The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy’s most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting nearly a decade after the first film was released.”
“The original film brought together an incredibly group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again,” added Morgenstein.
Whether Lively, Ferrera, Bledel and Tamblyn will decide to get on board remains to be seen.
